2025-2026 AFF Scholarship Application Now Available

The 2025-2026 Akerson Family Foundation Scholarship application is now available HERE. The scholarship awards college-bound seniors up to $50,000 over their four-year undergraduate career. In order to access the application, you must create an account on our application portal.

Applications will be due on March 2, 2026. Seniors from public high schools in Alexandria City, Arlington County, District of Columbia, Fairfax County, and Falls Church City are encouraged to apply. Please see our HOW TO APPLY page for additional eligibility requirements.

2023-2024 Scholarship Application Available October 1, 2023

The 2023-24 Akerson Family Foundation Scholarship application will be available on October 1, 2023. The scholarship is a renewable $40,000 scholarship to the school of your choice - any four-year college/university or community college (excluding for-profit schools). The scholarship is available to first generation students in Alexandria City (VA), Arlington County (VA), and Fairfax County (VA) public schools with a 3.3 GPA or above. Questions? Class of 2023 AFF Finalists to be announced by MARCH 31

Finalists for the Akerson Family Foundation Scholarship will be announced by Friday, March 31, 2023. Finalists will be contacted via email and asked to schedule an interview with foundation board members and/or staff. Interviews will take place from April 5-18, 2023.

These $40,000/4-year renewable scholarships are open to any first generation college-bound student graduating in Spring 2022 from a public high school in Arlington County Public Schools in Virginia or Alexandria City Public Schools in Virginia. Congratulations to our 2021 cohort of Akerson Scholars! Winners were notified on May 1. Three students from T.C. Williams High School in Alexandria, Virginia and one student from Washington-Liberty High School in Arlington, Virginia were selected to receive renewable four-year scholarships worth $40,000 over the course of their college careers. Thank you to all who applied and made this one of our most impressive applicant pools to date!
